Welcome to the TalkBox.Mom Accountability Community

  • Meet other TalkBox.Mom families 🤝🏼
  • Stay accountable by sharing your practice sessions 🙋‍♀️
  • Celebrate your wins when your family uses your phrases 🥳
  • Use other families’ practice session details as a template or inspiration for your practice session 🤩

The Accountability Community is located inside your box and challenges on the website. On this page, you’ll find the guidelines and how-to guide for using the community as well as our weekly featured check-ins and prizes.

Every week, we feature accountability check-ins across all languages and boxes with doable and engaging phrase practice sessions. Here are some posts I made to inspire your phrase practice session “recipes.” Can’t wait to feature your phrase practice session “recipe” next!

On Friday, we randomly select one Accountability Check-In AND one Accountability Check-In Reply (aka cheerleader, supporter, BFF) to win a weekly prize. The more times you share your phrase practice sessions and reply to other families, the higher your chances of winning.

Accountability Community Guidelines

The Accountability Community is a safe space for TalkBox.Mom families and our moderators as well as a focused space.

Here are some guidelines so the Accountability Community remains a drama-free, sales-free, link-free, and shadow-activity-free zone. By using the community, you agree to follow these guidelines.

Box Introductions

Introduce your family to the other TalkBox.Mom families working on this box. You can share something fun about your family and why you’re learning this language. Be sure to share how many weeks you’ll be taking per challenge and the date you plan to move on from this box.

Accountability Check-ins

When you’re checking in for a challenge, share about your practice sessions and wins from using phrases from a phrase practice session. You can share what your 1-5 focus phrases are, how you practiced your phrases, and/or how you used your phrases as life happens.

You will find these instructions in the check-in area!

Shadow activities describe when someone wants to speak another language, but then they fill their language time with everything but speaking in the language.  If the language activity you’re doing isn’t building on using your phrases, you’re spending your time in the shadow of your actual goal.

Filling your time with shadow activities creates a false sense of progress and causes frustration when you realize you’re not actually able to talk in the language.

But here’s the thing: you won’t be able to talk if you don’t… practice talking (aka doing practice sessions)!

This is why we won’t allow any posts that aren’t related to phrase practice sessions. Reading from people complaining about not achieving their goals while not following the process will only be misleading and distracting, keeping you away from reaching your goals. We don’t want that to happen because we’re here to guide you to success!

Sharing and requesting fluency layer activities doesn’t belong in the check-in area. But don’t worry! We’re creating a separate area in the community where you’ll be able to find and share fluency layer activities.

We want the fluency layer activities to be organized and easily accessible while keeping the Accountability Community focused on accountability.

Support questions do not belong in the check-in area.

If you have a language question, phrase request, or any other questions, our team is here to help! Contact us at support@talkbox.mom.

Members are not permitted to promote products or services such as your own products or outside products, programs, websites, opt in pages, registration pages, or affiliate links. External links are not allowed.

Members should not share any personal or confidential information in the community, including contact details or financial information.

In order to keep the Accountability Community safe and focused, any content that violates these guidelines will be removed. Of course, our moderators will first gently guide you to follow the rules if you get confused. However, repeated violations may and will result in definitive banning from the Community.

How to Check In from the App

The Beta TalkBox.Mom Accountability Community is only available via the website at this time.

We’re currently in beta mode. We want to take all of your input as you share your accountability check-ins to roll out crucial features. Working from the website gives us the most flexibility. After months of testing on the website, we’ll begin development in the TalkBox.Mom Companion App.

Don’t wait to start posting until the community is in the app. Instead, we recommend using the app to practice and then using the website to check in. Both can be done from your phone. And it’s so worth it!
