Make MORE Progress Than EVER Before
After three years with a private tutor for our whole family, two mission trips to France for our oldest son, and a French degree in college for me, we’ve learned more functional French in the last two months with TalkBox.Mom than we ever learned in all that time.
Can I just ramble a bit about how amazing TalkBox.Mom is?? I realized today that my family has only been learning Hebrew for just over 4 months. 🤯 It’s hard to believe! Because we can say SO much in our new language. SO much.
The way this curriculum builds on itself is so intuitive and easy to use and adapt to our lives, and the result is actually real learning. We’re just starting the 3rd box (with adding in extra from the phrasebook) and it’s starting to gel. Such a dream come true for me!
This program is amazing. My husband and I are advanced but learning so much. Before this, we had been using Japanese, reading Japanese picture books, singing Japanese nursery songs, and enrolled our oldest in Japanese preschool.
After 1 WEEK of TalkBox.Mom, my 5 and 3 year old are speaking more Japanese than I have heard from them since they started talking.
We love TalkBox.Mom so much. We are speaking more Spanish in 2 months than we have in YEARS of failed attempts!
Having attempted to learn Korean for years with my kids before starting TalkBox.Mom, I can confidently say that focusing on TalkBox.Mom is my number 1 priority. Putting feet to the language so you can actually USE it is where TalkBox.Mom comes in.
We bought the Japanese one earlier this month and my 2.5 year old has been doing so amazing with it! I rave about this program with our local homeschooling and military moms. I absolutely love it.

How is TalkBox.Mom different?
This is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for!
It’s so hard to find programs geared toward talking to children in foreign languages. I love that you guys have done all that “running around” for us, checking the phrases for accuracy and giving them to us with correct pronunciation so I can start talking to my son immediately.
Other programs start with basic introductions and progress into more adult topics–travel, business, etc.–and then also put a big focus on grammar exercises. You have to be pretty far into those programs to even start to get to words that you’d use for children every day–toys, dolls, crafts, stuff like that. And by then, you’re burnt out on the grammar it took to get that far.
But this program got me speaking to my son in German from the first day the Phrasebook arrived in my app, after spending the last year trying to learn German for myself.

In my Spanish university classes, we focused on sentence structure, and I have to think SO HARD to understand/translate the stuff I’ve learned.
With TalkBox.Mom, when we speak, it rolls right off the tongue and requires no translation!
I was one of those people who thought it was crazy TalkBox.Mom didn’t explain the grammar rules at the beginning.
Well, in the last couple days, I noticed that I can, in fact, now just hear when something sounds off grammatically. I’ve been able to stop myself and think, “Wait, that didn’t quite sound right. Let me try again,” instead of thinking so hard about all the rules before I speak.
It was such an awesome revelation that I can finally HEAR it myself live in the moment and without really thinking about it.
We love learning French phrases that we use in our family every day. From “Are you hungry? and “What do you want to eat?” to “That’s a cool stick,” “I want to jump on the trampoline!,” and “Stop bothering your brother!”
As parents and kids, these are the things we really want and need to know how to say. It’s exciting to incorporate new words and phrases into our daily life so easily.
Playing at the park today, I was using phrases from boxes one and two with my girls (four and one). A native speaker heard us and excitedly asked if we knew Spanish! The native speaker audio has done wonders for helping our accents sound more authentic. This experience that boosted our confidence.

Without any prompting, my 2-year-old spoke Spanish to have me run & walk slowly as he smiled from the baby carrier.

My daughter passed the CLEP test and received two semesters of college Spanish thanks to TalkBox.Mom!
For her test prep, she used two books from half priced books to practice grammar and read paragraph passages, but the rest was TalkBox.Mom.
She says it was TalkBox.Mom’s variety of vocabulary that really helped her to pass! Now she doesn’t have to take those classes in college, which is a significant savings!
I use TalkBox.Mom for high school, and it’s amazing. My oldest did dual enrollment for two semesters of Spanish, but he has learned more actually talking and using the language with TalkBox.Mom. Instead of teaching disconnected vocabulary and grammar like in his college class, TalkBox.Mom is all about actually using the language.
Is TalkBox.Mom for Native Speakers?
I was at a loss on how to introduce my native language without overwhelming my family. This program is helpful in breaking the language into small, manageable (and relevant) pieces. It also empowers them to learn some things on their own through TalkBox.Mom’s posters and other fun resources.

Having a dedicated program helped me be consistent and focused as opposed to inconsistent and all over the place with my Spanish usage.
He’s totally into repeating the phrases on my phone & has used some of them unprompted “¡más por favor!” He already knew that phrase going in, but he would have never used it on his own before. He also really liked the extra games (he’s a fan of board games right now).
This has taken SO MUCH pressure off of bringing Spanish into our home more regularly and I think it will give him an awesome foundation for dual-immersion next year.

When we adopted our toddler from Korea, my whole family, including my children, could communicate with him in Korean from our prior 6 months with TalkBox.Mom.
Supporting Foster Families
Thank you so much for helping my family learn to speak Spanish! We volunteer with a Christian ministry by helping provide respite care for their kids while mom attends to other pressing matters in her life, such as securing housing if they are homeless, attending treatment to help with an addiction, or dealing with a mental health crisis. We are one of many families who provide a safe, loving place for the kids to be while mom gets the support she needs.
We are on Spanish Box 5, and we just hosted our first Spanish-speaking kids. We were totally able to communicate with them in Spanish! The 5-year-old does speak English in addition to Spanish, but the 4-year-old would not speak any English (although I can tell he understands it at least a little bit). We used so many phrases we had learned! I had been talking with my kids a lot in Spanish, but I thought it would be harder to do it with these little native Spanish speakers. But it was easy! Wash your hands, come to the table, put the plates on the table. No problem.
I cannot imagine another program would be able to get my family to the point of feeling confident hosting the kids in only 6 months. The topics and phases you put in the program are perfect for what we needed.

TalkBox.Mom really IS a Charlotte Mason language curriculum. I was reading the compilation of Charlotte Mason foreign language excerpts on my curriculum’s website a couple of months ago and realized that this is all exactly what TalkBox.Mom does!
Previous readings were either motivating in a maybe-someday kind of way or depressing because I’d never be able to create something like that. TalkBox.Mom for the Charlotte Mason win!
But Isn’t TalkBox.Mom Expensive?
I tried a French tutor and then started TalkBox.Mom. The tutor was not that effective and was very costly. Other families there wanted to know what we were doing because my daughter is speaking French in full sentences. I am really in love with TalkBox.Mom.
Before I found TalkBox.Mom, I spent HOURS putting together a small handful of sentences to work on. I even found a company that offers 60 sentences with audio for $150. (This puts the value of the first box at over $5k.) I so appreciate all the value we get in our TalkBox.Mom boxes!
I didn’t have to go off to a tutor to learn Spanish. I didn’t have to enroll my children in a dual language school. We were able to learn it right there in our own home. I realized that was really worth it.

So many times I have bought things at conventions that I never use. Or I get home and think “why did I buy this!?” Sometimes it’s hard to know best items to buy while staying within budget.
