Why are so many families struggling to speak a foreign language? Where is the struggle coming from? 😓 It’s that they don’t know how to get from WANTING to talk to TALKING with their family.
They follow the wrong map to learn a language, which focuses on starting with grammar, memorizing vocabulary lists, learning weird phrases like, “The purple horse is in the church,” or only practicing once a week.
Using the wrong map for learning a language is like using a map of Paris to locate a restaurant in Berlin. It doesn’t work! I want you to tear up that map. ✂️ Instead of that map, I want you to follow the most successful language teachers in the world— Moms! 💁🏽♀️
As moms, we don’t wait to teach the past tense. We talk to our babies in every tense as life is happening. We also don’t give them vocab lists. They’d eat ‘em! We use the vocabulary in the moment as life is happening. Our children then extract words from our sentences and start building their own. We give them so much needed context instead of just single words.
We also don’t just practice with our kids one hour a week. We talk to them all day and sometimes all night 😭 long.
So I give you permission to not start with vocabulary lists and grammar and follow the way the most successful language teachers in the world teach a language. I know you want to be successful! 🙋🏽♀️
